General Guidelines
Submissions must not infringe any copyrights or any other rights of third parties. Songs with multiple writers should submit under one entrant. A separate field will request the names of all contributors.
Song challenge is open to all amateur and professional songwriters and spoken word artists who live in Canada. There has been overwhelming interest from artist outside of Canada - as a result, we are considering opening a separate prize category for non-Canadian artists.
Songs must include some form of environmental content. Entrants are required to include Earth Day notes for lyric and audio content, especially if environmental references are cryptic, subtle or abstract.
Songs should be around 3 minutes in length. They should cater to the demographic of popular music genres; however, other music genres and spoken word submissions are also welcome. Evoke Creatives reserves the right to disqualify entrants who submit inappropriate content.
Entrant may submit multiple songs, and will retain all ownership rights. Entrants are encouraged to seek SOCAN resources.
Prizes
Prizes will include studio time to record, mix and master a song, an EP collaboration with Evoke, and annual subscriptions to Distrokid or other distribution service. Toronto-based participants will be invited to perform at Evoke’s live event on April 22 at the Gladstone Hotel (Toronto).
