When Suanny moved from Colombia to Canada, she founded The Shared Bag in Toronto. Her local business upcycles textiles - like old clothing - to create reusable and multipurpose cloth bags. This reduces the amount of textiles going into landfills, and helps communities find solutions to reduce their use of single-use plastic bags.

100 words From Suanny:

Over the years, I have seen many of the spaces that I love - including music festivals and events - create huge amounts of waste. In my free time, you’ll find me wandering the streets of Toronto picking up garbage with my trash picker *in style*. Environmental sustainability isn’t just for a certain type of person - I believe we can each make a difference through our own hobbies and interests. When all our efforts are combined, our impact can be great.

My vision of 2025 is seeing no more single-use plastics being used! I also see lots of textile repairing and COOL patching on clothes. Over the next 5 years, we transform how we think about fashion.
